Phone Pranks

Phones aren’t just for communicating anymore.

Take apart the handset of a co-workers phone (assuming it is one of those older models in which you can do this) and place tape over the mouthpiece inside. They will still be heard, but will have to speak very loud. After a day or two, remove the tape from the mouthpiece and cover the inside of the earpiece with tape. Continue this for as long as you remain amused by the yelling.

If you work in an office where two or more people work at desks that are next to eachother, switch their telephone handsets.
A simple but very effective office prank is to tape down the phone button on a co-worker's phone. When they pick up the receiver it will keep ringing.
If you have a conferencing feature of your office phone, dial one co-worker, then while it's ringing dial another co-worker and then conference them together. Put your own phone on mute and listen to see how long they chit chat before figuring out that neither one placed the call.
Take apart the handset of a co-workers phone (assuming it is one of those older models in which you can do this) and stick a piece of old onion or garlic or anything else that stinks inside the mouthpiece section. Sit back and see how short their conversations become.
If you see somebody's cell phone laying around change the greeting banner to say "Batteries Low". They will have their cell phone charging for weeks and confusion over this statement will lead to any number of attempts to rectify the problem.
Wear gloves and rub a broken/cut hot pepper (habanera is especially good) on your co-worker’s telephone handset (both receiver, mouthpiece and handle) and number pad. This will liven-up any phone conversation.
